Preparing dinner for my family
Cooking dinner for my family is something I have done since I was newly married. Today is one of the few days I have missed to do that, and it will be sad both for my family and for me. I do not think my children will eat food that is not prepared by mummy.
- Welcoming my husband home
I am always at home when my husband arrives, but today I will not be around and what is even sad is that I have not been able to tell him what has happened to me. I feel bad that I will not be home when he arrives.
- Taking my children to sleep
Bedtime is one of those things I enjoy because I get to sing a lullaby and read bedtime stories. This is one of those days that I am sad for not being around to perform the bedtime ritual with my children. I am even afraid that they might not go to sleep.
- Helping my children with homework
This is a role we have done with my husband since they started school. However, today only daddy will be able to do it, which is alright, but I will really miss the moment.
- Receiving my children when they come from school
The children’s nanny will be home, but I really enjoy anytime they come back home and find me there. I will not be the one to give their snack, which is not okay for me as a mother.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio
One of the greatest ideas that Arpaio implemented at The Maricopa County Jail was the instituted ban for “sexually explicit material.” He instituted a ban against the inmates having possession of the materials, which included Playboy magazine. The ban was a great idea given the fact that it was causing negative effects on the inmates, including public masturbation (Romero 337). They also made the prison more immoral because the images would go into the heads of the inmates who would harass their fellow inmates and even the prison officers. Viewing the nudes and the sexually explicit content is not such a good idea for the inmates who are only women and without their sexual partners. In fact, there are other more informative materials that they could be provided with.
The idea that was implemented by Arpaio was the creation of the tent city. The extension of the county jail was a not so good idea because the temperatures therein were not suitable for human life. The tent had a temperature rising to as high as 150 °F (65 °C) during the day. Unfortunately, the inmates were not allowed to complain even when during the summer they were expected to spend time under such extreme temperatures (Romero 337). The tents were a violation of the human rights of the inmates and should not have been established in the first place. It is among the violations of the rights that Arpaio came up with.
