You should now have a strong foundation for the message you plan to communicate in your Final Project as well as a good idea of how you want to incorporate visuals. This week, you are required to locate or create at least five possible visuals that you might utilize for your Final Project (e.g., photographs, drawings, video clips, screenshots).
In a one- to two-page paper (not including the title and reference pages), explain the following:
Why you selected the visuals.
How they support your intended message.
What reaction or results you hope to gain from the use of these visuals.
As part of your explanation, be sure to include examples to support each required point. Include your visuals in the paper (be sure to reference any visuals that you did not create in proper APA format). Your paper must be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide.
Must use at least two scholarly sources in addition to the course text.
The Role of Infographics in Promoting Safety in Food Service
Infographics are essential in passing information to the intended audience. They are visual; thus, creating a lasting image in individuals’ memories. In the foodservice industry, infographics are majorly used in conveying information on aspects of safety. Without these visuals, individuals in the foodservice industry will find it hard to understand aspects of safety; hence, it is vital to encompass infographics in the foodservice niche.
The visuals I selected
The visuals I selected to use are screenshots and a short video from YouTube. The video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7D90UJbCg0&ab_channel=SAIFCorporation. offers information on how different kitchen equipment should be used. The other four infographics are screenshots from Freeborn (2018); “Using Infographics for Food Safety”. They offer information on the importance of hygiene and usage of specific appliances to prevent injury.

Why I Selected the Visuals
My main objective is to convey information on the prevention of hazardous incidences within the food industry. I opted to use them since they educate cooks and other practitioners in the food industry on how to handle kitchen equipment. The screenshots form memorable images; thus, making it easier for them to remember issues of safety in the kitchen. The short video offers them step by step information on how to use the kitchen appliances and precautionary behaviour while handling food (SAIF Corporation, 2018). It gives the right and wrong way in which cooks should carry out their activities making it simpler to copy the correct format. Therefore, these visuals not only offer information on health hazards but also makes it easy to conceptualize them.
How They Support the Intended Message
The visuals support my intention of passing across a message of safety in foodservice. Since the safety concept in the food industry is wide, the workers have a difficult time remembering what they should do. With these visuals, they can concentrate on what is being taught (Clark, 2019). They also aid the chefs to remember every aspect of food safety. The demonstrations in the you-tube video aid them in memorizing the different kitchen appliances and how they should be used (SAIF Corporation, 2018). It helps them understand the necessary precautions needed for the prevention of accidents. In the process, it will support the message of safety in foodservice.
Prospective Results from the Visuals
I hope to gain positive reactions from the utilization of the five visuals. From the first visuals, I am positive that individuals in the foodservice industry will understand how different kitchen appliances are used. They will comprehend that they need to use the right tools for specific activities while cooking. In opening a can, they might need a can opener instead of using a knife. I expect that cooks learn the essence of communication while cooking. Without proper communication, other cooks might get hurt. For instance, warning others that a plate is hot will prevent them from getting burnt. I hope that they will comprehend the essence of handling food with the right equipment instead of their bare hands while cooking. It will aid in preventing accidents.
Conclusion
In conclusion, visuals are important in the food industry. I selected five infographics that I believe will convey varied safety messages to chefs. These visuals support my implication of promoting safety within foodservice. They will aid in capturing the cooks’ attention and improve their ability to memorize safety precautions. As a result, I hope they will comprehend the safety measures within the foodservice industry.
