According to Aristotle, it is possible for each person to achieve the good which he or she desires, but due to the complexity of the human nature, there are some challenges towards this achievement. He further suggests that the obstacles can be external, the very nature of the circumstances in which the person finds the self in it, or they can be internal, the character of the person (Soccio, 2015). It is the nature that sets out the natural limits that a person can reach. Hence, the elements of nature can become major obstacles towards fully functioning, balanced individual. For example, it could be the desire of a person to achieve the highest level of education, but the resources may not allow. Another person could be very determined to be happy, but the circumstances leave no room for happiness. Hence, the environment can cause major hindrances towards becoming a fully functioning, balanced individual. The very condition of a person plays an important role in self-realization. Hence, when the nature of the person is limiting, then this can be a huge barrier to developing the trait. From within oneself, there should be the motivation to work towards self-realization. In the event that the person is not psychologically and physically endowed, then achieving the highest level of self-realization can be challenging or impossible. The physical or psychological reality of the person can be an obstacle.
Personal Entelechy
I cannot claim to have achieved self-realization or actualization, but I am working towards reaching that point in my life. I am a reasonable person, and I am able to distinguish between the right and the wrong, and always strive to do what is right. For example, I can never hurt another person intentionally and even in the event that I hurt another person accidentally, I feel bad and will apologize with a great deal of sincerity. I am not a kind of person that enjoys hurting other people just for the sake of it. I am always keen to maintain positive relationships which lie in taking into account the feelings of other people in all decisions and actions. I like being close to people and have realized that this cannot happen if I keep stepping on people’s toes without being apologetic. In terms of my personal life, I am working towards achieving my desires in life and my life’s dreams. I feel that I will be more satisfied with my life once I have completed my education and achieved the highest level of academic qualifications. I feel positive about my achievement this far and can see my goals being achieved in the near future. I am very determined and I have a strong resolve to achieve the best that life has to offer. I have a lot to achieve, and I anticipate achieving all of them.
