Subject: Proposal to Remote Connections Laptops
PURPOSE
The purpose of the proposed project is to seek permission to research the best type of laptops to support remote operations at The Equinox Group. The company aims to reduce the number of days members of the marketing team will be required to report to the office. Hence, they should have the best laptops to support networking and work-at-home requirements, including security and privacy.
SUMMARY
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, various workplace conditions have changed, including the work-at-home trends to reduce social contact. As a result, companies have accepted the new trend and believe in cutting the cost of working from the office. The Equinox Group has not had similar arrangements but seeks to expand its operations by hiring ten new employees to work remotely. Thus, the company should acquire the most suitable laptops to aid the remote operations and support the new hires to work as part of a connected marketing team. Thus, the company’s IT team is researching the best type and models of laptops that will be ideal for its situation. The study will also test laptops for their networking and security capabilities to work remotely.
INTRODUCTION
The stay-home policies to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic paused a major challenge for The Equinox Group, but it has adapted to the trend and seeks to remain top in the digital marketing sector. Digital marketing requires employees to be present online at all times to deliver quality and timely work (Nyberg et al., 2021). Additionally, sharing laptops limits the employees’ level of creativity and the available time for conducting online research to create advertising campaigns (Chaffey & Ellis-Chadwick, 2016). Consequently, its IT team seeks to develop the best strategy by acquiring the ideal laptops to support remote work.
Currently, the company lacks a policy for providing new hires in the marketing department resources to work remotely. As a result, the current research should inform the change, including the feasibility of buying a specific type of laptop to achieve the objective. Importantly, the laptops would help marketing and product creation within the business environment (Nabieva, 2021). To determine the best course of action for the company, the following objectives will be met:
- To determine the most cost-effective, fast, and efficient laptops for the new employees
- To determine the company’s current skills and knowledge in computers
- To determine the potential information security risks and recommend solutions
- To develop the criteria for evaluating the laptops
- To determine the most ideal type of laptops based on the criteria
PROPOSED TASKS
Task 1:
Determining the ideal laptops (in terms of cost, speed, reliability, efficiency, and security features) for the ten new members of the marketing team. I will compare the prices of different laptops across different retailers and determine the most cost-efficient laptops that will improve employee performance. I will also choose the best laptop model for digital content creation.
Task 2:
Determining the current skills and knowledge and the need for additional training depending on the laptop models identified in task 1. The training will be compatible with their role in the company and the identified laptop model.
SCHEDULE
I estimate that the whole process will need a ten-day trial period, 7 hours per day. Thus, the whole process will be in November from 15th-25th.
EXPERIENCE
The employees will answer my research questions. I intend to interview them because they understand the benefits of using laptops to create digital marketing campaigns.
