Solution
Mock Interview Reflection
Interviews are the most effective ways of identifying ways of dealing with stressful situations. The one-on-one conversations are critical pointers for interviewees, especially when individuals are looking for jobs since they provide the opportunities to gain insights from both parties. I did the mock interview to determine how well I would perform in the circumstance, where I realized that the interview was more complicated than I expected. When I first read about the assignment, I thought it would be straightforward as I would conduct the interview and ask the right questions and get correct responses. After all, it was only a mock interview, not a real one. I have realized that the interview was as intimidating as the actual one, and I was as nervous. However, it has provided valuable lessons, and I identified areas for improvement in case I am invited for interviews in the future.
I have been practicing how to respond to common interview questions. I have answered many of the quaries over and over, but the mock one indicated that one could never be too prepared. One of the questions that drew me off a little was the one the interviewer requested to know about me. I have always thought it would be comfortable talking about myself, which, in reality, is not the case. I said a lot about my skills and qualifications, but still felt like I did not say enough. Additionally, it was not easy to tell whether what I said was what the interviewer was expecting to hear. As a result, I was very nervous when answering this question. The interviewee gave a positive feedback, which indicated that I had done quite well in responding to the question. I identified that should improve my reaction to weaknesses-related questions, especially how I act when I realize that I am under stress. It is necessary to speak about how I address the weakness to ensure that it does not affect my performance. However, I learned that my response should not sound like I am reading from my resume.
I liked the feedback from the interviewer when I answered the question about my accomplishments. I felt that my main achievement was getting into the college when I initially thought that I would never get there. When I was in high school, I never dreamt about getting a college education, but I eventually did, and I have subsequently succeeded by obtaining an undergraduate degree. The interviewer was impressed by my response to the question. The interviewer admitted that I was a committed person, and I took opportunities seriously. In the future, I will also include the skills that have enabled me to achieve accomplishments, such as time management and critical thinking. I realize that the interviewer wants to know what I am likely to accomplish if I am hired.
The interviewer also wanted to know what set me apart from other candidates interviewing for the same job. I realized the importance of focusing on the strengths and experiences that are unique to me since it was highly unlikely that they would be the same as those of my competitors. In the future, I should think ahead about what I have gained in terms of skills that will add value to the company if they hire me. Furthermore, I should be prepared to give real-life examples of how the skills and strengths make me the better qualified individual . I realized that not having a question for the interviewer was a weakness. They expected me to have a set of questions about the company and the position that I was interviewing for. The questions would prove that I am prepared for the interview and eager to learn about the anticipated new workplace. The interviewee challenged me to always have questions ready for the interviewee after the interview. In the end, I felt that I was honest and authentic with my answers and avoided uncertain issues. Consequently, the interview provided me with an opportunity to learn about participation in an interview and increase my chances of being hired.
