It is a reality that The Vitruvian Man is not just any simple drawing. The image represents the perfect human form in geometry as earlier proposed by Roman architect Vitruvius. The image fills perfectly in the space of a circle and a square. The human is the main source of the proportionality in the universe. In religion, the image is a representation of the mortal man with the immortal soul. The man is created and assumes a central place in the universe. He can go up and take a godly form or go down and take an animal form. It means that man has the potential for existing in any form and on all elements in the universe. He has the potential to exist within geometry, religion, philosophy, architecture, and art (Earle). It is the effort of the painter to relate man to nature.
