This is because not everybody had the same type of metal. Do an internet search for metal densities in units of grams per cubic centimeter, what type of metal do you think was in your lab kit?

7) Look at the density data for the “ruler method” and do your best to separate these numbers into two groups (call one “Group A” and the other “Group B”) using the statistics handout find the Difference Significance between the two groups of density data.

8) Now look at the density data for the “caliper method” and do your best to separate these numbers into two groups (use the same names as the ones for the ruler method) using the statistics handout find the Difference Significance between the two groups of density data.

9) If you wanted to make an argument to claim that the data set actually contained density values from two different type of metal, you would want a large DS value to back up your claim. Which method, ‘ruler’ or ‘caliper’ does this for you?
