Industry Overview
Puppy Play will face intense competition from other yoga and other health and fitness facilities in Fullerton city. The city has various health and fitness facilities that can be found in places, such as Independence Park, Lemon Park, Gilbert Park, and Woodcrest Park. The place has other yoga facilities in various sections of the city that people use for health and fitness purposes. Thus, the company will operate in a highly competitive business environment.
Puppy Play will compete with other firms and brands providing yoga and other health and fitness services. The leading competitor is Fitness Room Reopening which includes a gym and other fitness equipment. Specific yoga companies that will compete with Puppy Play include Hot 8 Yoga, Good Moodra Yoga, Lotus Yoga OC, Purple Yoga, Bikram Yoga Fullerton, and Kosha 5 Yoga Studio. Understanding the intense competition will help the management to create strategies to gain a competitive advantage.
Yoga, as part of the health and fitness industry, has a long history. It is part of ancient practices that involve the entire body of spiritual experience and experiment. Yoga was introduced to the United States as part of practices that promote holistic wellbeing. The practice seeks to unite man with the Universe. As people sought answers to their problems, they turned to higher powers to connect with nature. Swami Vivekananda, born in 1863, introduced Yoga to the United States, and although the practice has undergone some changes, the basic principle of oneness with nature still plays a key role (Clarke et al., 2018). Since then, the industry has continued to grow.
The industry is not new. The health and fitness industry, including yoga, have been around since the ancient period. While the practice has existed for centuries, one would expect that it would have matured and probably declined. However, yoga is one of the industries that continue expanding. One of the factors behind its continued growth and expansion is the trend in the wellness sector. People seeking healthier lifestyles turn to yoga and other wellness programs.
Some of the unique elements or practices of the industry include the spirituality dimension. Unlike other practices, such as the gym, yoga comprises a spiritual dimension that helps people connect with nature to achieve holistic wellness (Clarke et al., 2018). Through meditation, yoga helps people have internal healing, especially when experiencing emotional, psychological, or spiritual challenges.
The industry is not immune to environmental issues, trade regulations, labor relations, and health & safety regulations. Environmental issues affect the industry because the practice focuses on oneness with nature. Thus, yoga could play a key role in activist efforts to protect the environment. Trade regulations with an effect on the health and fitness industry will regulate the company. Labor relations operates from the perspective of protecting the rights of employees. Since the business will operate in the health and fitness sector, health and safety regulations will affect its operations. The regulations and policies will protect employees and clients from any harm to their health and safety.
Puppy Play fits into the industry since it will focus on providing yoga services to clients. Yoga and other meditative practices are part of the health and wellbeing of the target community. Thus, the proposed business will contribute to the growth and expansion of the health and fitness industry in Fullerton and the United States. Including dogs in the practice will add value to the expanding industry.
