Write a 750-1000 word essay about a topic in which you argue for the existence of a particular phenomenon by stating a generalization about the topic. Then you will support that generalization (in the form of a thesis statement) by choosing to write a single-example illustration essay or a multiple-example illustration essay (see Unit V, Lesson 2). The essay should be written in the style and form described within Unit V.
Purpose: Throughout Unit V, we have discussed the conventions of the illustration essay. The purpose of this assignment is to measure your mastery of those conventions by putting your knowledge to practice. In a larger context, the purpose of writing an illustration essay is to convey an idea to the reader by providing illustrations (examples) that will solidify the existence of a topic.
Process: For the illustration essay, you will complete the following steps:
Choose a topic: See the methods for developing a topic and the suggested list of topics in Unit V, Lesson 3.
Decide if you want to write a single-example or multiple-example essay: See Unit V, Lesson 2, for more instruction on the differences between single-example and multiple-example essays.
Collect illustrations: See Unit V, Lesson 1, for more information about different kinds of illustrations. See Unit V, Lesson 4, for more information about how to gather illustrations.
Craft your thesis statement: See Unit V, Lesson 5, for more information on how to write a thesis. Note that you want to craft your thesis according to whether you choose to write a single-example or a multiple-example essay.
Draft the essay: For each section of the essay, see the following: Unit V, Lesson 6, for the introduction; Unit V, Lesson 7, for the body paragraphs; and Unit V, Lesson 8, for the conclusion.
Stylistic details: All essays must meet the following requirements:
750-1000 words.
Write in Times New Roman, 12 pt. font.
Include one-inch margins on all sides.
Use double spacing (top-to-bottom every page, to include above and below titles and centered words).
Include an APA title page (for all essays) and reference list that includes all of the sources used in the essay.
Include page numbers (upper-right corner only).
Adhere to APA convention and documentation style (See the CSU citation guide for assistance.).

Schools holiday offer a valuable time for students to build their lifelong skills of work hence, prepares them for more challenging responsibilities in the future besides earning them extra money. Whether casual, part-time or temporary based a working student gain effective skills and broad knowledge on networking and job-hunting techniques. Such students are able to identify their strengths and weaknesses and can easily highlight their areas of specialization. They also learn how to manage the little money they earn and more importantly prepares them for better funds management in the future. Due to the increasing demand for better professionalism and expertise in the current employment, students should be encouraged to work during holidays to gain experience that opens opportunities for effective working skills, networking and socializing, as well as prioritizing and multitasking.
To begin with, effective working skills allow workers to remain productive thus, helps organizations to achieve their goals. In the modern world of employment, employers are looking for employees with capabilities to evaluate, organize and utilize resources in a critical manner. Getting out and acquiring experiences of the real world of employment enable students to gain firsthand working techniques. They practically acquire valuable skills, expertise and knowledge from permanent employees and other professionals in and out of their career field. The current job realities and skills are not taught in schools hence, a learner is expected to gain working skills through well organized school attachments and holiday jobs to have a wide knowledge over the expectations of employment. In this case, holiday jobs prepare students to encounter constructive work-related criticisms through critical thinking. For instance, the evolving nature of modern workplaces has created a competitive environment with new achievements that require effective skills of operation hence; being active at work helps students to develop skills that promote trust, leadership and productive results (Hardina, 2013). Also working at young age helps one to solve problems independently. In addition, students gain digital expertise, creativity, communication proficiency among other important skills required in any working environment. Such skills gain value with market globalization and diversification. Therefore, students should focus on the development of better working skills during school holidays in preparation for their future career development.
Secondly, students who work during holidays make professional level connections with different people in various departments within their working places. Such people may act as future referees during job seeking period. In this case, it is important for students to understand that every level of career development requires references hence, relating well with experienced people is beneficial. This means that when their future interviewers call, the referees can give a good credit on the student’s skills and professionalism. Socializing helps students to get contacts and referrals that may be useful in the future. During events such as teambuilding, people get to know each other and may exchange their contacts thus, building relationships which may lead to job recommendations in future. In consideration of the greater diversity of the modern work teams, employees must embrace flexibility that comes with new work-related benefits (Lumley&Wilkinson 2014). Some workplaces may have employees from all parts of the world with various skills and knowledge enhancing social intelligence and allowing workers to relate effectively. By being part of the working nation students learn the importance of democracy at work places with customized work experiences that strengthens relationships between employers and employees. Thus, it is only through continuous interaction with the working forces that students can learn and develop their career as well as identify their strengths and weaknesses. A better understanding of other people and what they do involve building solid social skills hence, making collaboration more productive. In this case, working during holidays gives students a good exposure towards building strong social networks with future benefits.
Thirdly, most modern organizations are employing people who can easily prioritize and multitask successfully. Some activities require immediate response and since prioritizing is about the identification of most urgent need, such tasks need to be handled first. To fit in the current work forces, students must learn how to combine both prioritizing and multitasking concepts in a professional manner and address critical and demanding tasks successfully. Multitasking is a broad skill of operation that is becoming more common with the diversification on the world of employment. Today, students are expected to have the potentiality to perform different tasks despite their line of career or specialization due to the current demands. Through multitasking, leaders can share work among different teams, encourage smart work to improve work flow and make multitasking look like a game of fun to enhance motivation. Priorities form the basic steps that people need to be successful at work and results to the accomplishment of large goals (Hardina 2013). Holiday jobs have opened students’ minds thus, helping them to have a sense of priority which means they understand the most important tasks over others at any given moment. Training students to remain focused on priorities has helped them to avoid wasting valuable time on less important activities. They should be trained to develop awareness on time passage and task scheduling habit. Thus, working during holidays prepares students for a more challenging future working environment where they will be required to meet deadlines and manage their time efficiently.
Therefore, encouraging young people to work during school holidays can be the best approach in promoting productivity of the future workforce. Work holidays offer students developmental and educational opportunities that helps in preparing them for job realities in the future. Most employers in the modern world value employees with past experiences since they possess efficient working skills, can multitask, prioritize, network and socialize freely. For that reason, parents, guardians and schools should opt to put students on holiday jobs rather than holiday camps to build experienced future workforces.
