Audience Analysis
The Audience
The audience is all the staff for Van Dykes Suits. It is a company that deals in the manufacture and wholesale of men, women, and children suits across Canada and the U.S. Majority of the staff are junior and fall within the age group of 23-35. They comprise both males and females with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. It is a group of the most determined employees who would want to maintain their performance and see the company grow. The audience is fairly educated, with the majority of the staff having a college degree. Therefore, their socioeconomic c status befits a working-class group of people who appreciate communication dimensions and can decode the message easily. The audience has a great interest in the company given their desire to see it succeed. Therefore, their value is to ensure sustainability in the organization, which will promise their continued livelihood.
Audience Knowledge of the Audience
The awareness of the audience’s knowledge on the new Junior Design topic in the organization is not clear. Not many staff know that the Human Resource Manager has hired Tyler Grant to help design children’s suits. However, they had some background information on the vacancy in the design department. Therefore, they expect the company to hire people to fill the vacancies it creates and continue its vision of expanding in the marketplace. The communication message will focus on introducing the recruit and explaining the goals and objectives for hiring him. As a result, the audience will reduce their bias on the topic and support the company’s decisions. It is a tradition in Van Dykes Suits that there is a reception in the staff lunchroom whenever a new employee comes. Thus, the audience can assume that the communication on the arrival and reception of Tyler would culminate into the traditional ceremony. All these factors contribute to the audience’s awareness of the topic even if they are unaware of the details.
The Information that the Audience Need
The staff needs to know the designation of Mr. Tyler Grant, his roles and responsibility, and the reasons why Van Dykes Suits hired him. All these will provide the background information and shape the path for the staff to accept him and support him in the organization’s daily operations. Also, the team needs to know the schedule of the reception. The date and time of the reception provide details that would help the audience join in the reception for Mr. Grant. It is critical to provide the date, time, and place. As a result, the communication will be effective in preparing the audience for the reception. It is imperative to use the common formal language, eliminate preconceived notions and employ elements of rhetorical analysis.
